PTE results usually arrive within 48 hours of your test, although some take up to five days. Pearson score reports are valid for two years, but universities and visa authorities can set their own limits. You can send your scores to as many institutions as you like from your Pearson account, free of charge.

When do PTE results come out?

Most students get an email within two days saying their score report is ready in their Pearson account. If a response needs extra review, it can take a little longer. There is no need to contact Pearson unless five working days have passed.

How to send your PTE scores

  1. Log in to your Pearson account.
  2. Choose "Send scores" and search for your university, employer or government body.
  3. Select the institution and confirm. There is no fee for sending scores.

Australian visa applications use your score report details. Keep a copy of your score report PDF safe.

What if your score is lower than expected?

  • Rescore: you can request a rescore of your test through Pearson. Your score can go up, down or stay the same, so only request one if a result is clearly out of line with your mocks.
  • Technical review: if you believe a technical problem affected your speaking, you can request a technical review instead.
  • Retake: you can book another test once you have received your current results. Many students retake within a few weeks after fixing one weak skill.

How to decide whether to retake straight away

Look at your skill scores, not just your overall. If one skill is a few points short, a focused week or two on that skill is often enough. If several skills are well short, take more time so you do not pay the fee again for the same result. Use our score calculator to see the exact gap.

Frequently asked questions

How many days does it take to get PTE results?

Usually two days, sometimes up to five.

Can I see my PTE answers or a breakdown by task?

No. You receive an overall score and four skill scores. You do not see marks for individual questions.

How soon can I retake PTE?

Once you have received your results, you can book a new test. There is a limit on the number of tests in a 12-month period, but very few students come close to it.
