On test day your job is not to improve. It is to deliver the score you already have without losing points to logistics, nerves or timing. Use this checklist the night before and the morning of your test.
The night before
- Check your booking email for the centre address and arrival time.
- Put your passport in your bag. The name must match your booking exactly.
- Plan your route and leave extra time for traffic.
- Sleep. Rest helps fluency more than late-night practice.
On the morning
- Eat something light.
- Warm up your voice for five minutes: read a short text aloud. A cold voice is a real fluency penalty in the first Read Aloud items.
- Arrive at least 30 minutes early for check-in.
At check-in
Staff check your passport, take your photo and run a biometric check. Phones, watches and bags go in a locker. You receive an erasable notepad and pen. See what to expect at PTE exam centres in Nepal.
During the test
- Microphone check: speak at the volume and distance you will use for the whole exam. Adjust the headset once, then leave it alone.
- The noisy room: other candidates start at different times and speak at once. Keep your volume steady. The microphone is directional and records you, not your neighbour.
- Notepad: use it for Retell Lecture, Summarize Group Discussion and Summarize Spoken Text. In other tasks, notes usually cost more time than they save.
- Timers: each Summarize Written Text and essay has its own timer, and unused time does not carry over. Reading and most of Listening share one timer each, so keep moving.
You cannot go back to earlier questions. Answer, check briefly, move on.
